Apollo Tyres backs Cash & Rocket charity tour promoting equality through education
Earlier this month Apollo Tyres provided sponsorship funding and an educational ‘Tyre Masterclass’ to the ‘Cash & Rocket 2022 Sustainable Tour’, a charity driving event that raises funds for women and children in need and promotes gender equality through education.
Taking place over four days, between 9 and 12 June, the tour saw 80 female participants raise over £373,000 for a number of charities including Sumbandila, the Helen Bamber Foundation and the Spanish Red Cross. Apollo Tyres, which is the first tyre company to sponsor this event, had its premium product brand, Vredestein, featured prominently on the participating cars and on event signage.
This year marked the first Cash & Rocket Sustainable Tour where all 40 cars, wrapped in the same Vredestein-branded red livery, were hybrid or electric vehicles. The route, which started in the heart of Barcelona, Spain, saw the teams drive through Provence, Milan and finish their journey in Florence, Italy.
During the tour, Apollo Tyres hosted a presentation at Chateau Roquelune, France, led by its designated representative for the event, Yvette Houtgraaf (otherwise known as Het AutoMeisje), a Dutch automotive influencer. Participants were guided on the different characteristics of season-specific tyres, including a focus on the award-winning range of Vredestein winter, summer and all-season tyres. Apollo Tyres also teamed up with French tyre retailer Allopneus to demonstrate how to change a tyre.
The Vredestein team who took part in the tour, driving an Audi Q3 Sportback 45 TFSI E plug-in hybrid, fitted with Vredestein Quatrac Pro all-season tyres, were model and fashion blogger Gala Gonzalez and Creative Director of online fashion retailer Majorelle, Rachel Zeilic.
Benoit Rivallant, President and CEO of Apollo Tyres Europe said: “Cash & Rocket is a fantastic cause doing great work to raise awareness and funds for some very worthy causes. Now that the tour features vehicles with sustainable powertrains it felt the right time for us to showcase the Vredestein brand, which is evolving for a new era of electro-mobility. The enthusiasm of all those involved is truly inspiring, and it was a thrill to play a part in making the event such a success.”
Julie Brangstrup Watts, founder of Cash & Rocket, commented: “We were delighted to have the Vredestein brand as a sponsor for this year’s tour, our biggest and best yet. We had a truly inspiring group of talented and strong women who supported and took part, demonstrating the importance of equality and sustainability.”
Founded in 2011, Cash & Rocket was created with a vision to spark change by motivating and supporting women and children in need around the world. The charity and tour are supported by a number of influential female ambassadors.
