First place for Apollo Aspire XP Winter in Auto Bild Allrad tyre test
The Apollo Aspire XP Winter was recently acclaimed best winter tyre on the market in a winter tyre test by respected German publication Auto Bild Allrad. Specialising in all-wheel drive vehicles, the magazine singled out the Aspire XP Winter as the only tyre in the test to receive its coveted vorbildlich (‘exemplary’) distinction.
Traditionally published in the November issue, Auto Bild Allrad’s 2019 winter tyre test had to be carried out in Japan this year due to unseasonably warm temperatures in Europe. The ten models, in size 215/60 R17, underwent 13 different trials in the ‘snow’, ‘wet’ and ‘dry’ categories. The Apollo Aspire XP Winter took home the gold, and was the only one of the 10 models to be designated as exemplary – the Auto Bild Allrad drivers gave it the best or second-best mark in every trial and found no direct weaknesses.

The Aspire XP Winter did particularly well in terms of braking on dry roads as well as circuit speed in the wet surface category. The authors were especially impressed by its “excellent driving performance on wet and snowy roads, high aquaplaning safety, stable & safe driving behaviour, high cornering precision and advantageous price.” They also praised the know-how of Apollo’s development technicians.
This award comes on the heels of the Aspire XP Winter also receiving the ‘exemplary’ label in sister magazine Auto Bild’s annual winter tyre test in September, which also designated the Aspire XP Winter as particularly environmentally friendly with its Eco-Meister stamp.
The Aspire XP Winter
The Apollo Aspire XP Winter is remarkably balanced. It features lateral sipes in the shoulder area which provide outstanding water evacuation round bends and superlative traction on snow. Its multi-directional sipes and grooves in the centre ensure excellent wet performance and snow handling. Wear-resistant polymers in the tread compound of the Aspire XP Winter have been designed especially for low temperatures, resulting in an extra-long lifespan.
