Vredestein all-season tyres excel in latest Auto Bild and Auto Motor und Sport tests

The Vredestein Quatrac Pro 2 and Quatrac have excelled in three separate group tests of all-season tyres conducted by leading German automotive publications Auto Bild, Auto Bild Allrad and Auto Motor und Sport.

The Quatrac Pro 2 earned ‘Exemplary’ ratings in both of the Auto Bild tests, while the Quatrac secured a ‘Very good’ rating and a ‘Price Performance’ recommendation in Auto Motor und Sport’s latest all-season group test.

‘Exemplary’ Quatrac Pro 2

In Auto Bild’s latest test, the Quatrac Pro 2 achieved joint second place in size 225/45 R 17. A total of 30 tyres entered a wet- and dry-braking qualification stage, with the best 15 then progressing to the full test, conducted using a Volkswagen Golf and Golf GTI.

The Quatrac Pro 2 made it through to the final and delivered the best overall performance in the snow category, achieving the shortest braking distance on snow, stopping in 25.0 metres from 50 km/h. It also recorded the fastest snow-handling speed, averaging 55.6 km/h, and the highest lateral acceleration in the snow slalom at 2.51 m/s².

On wet roads, it recorded the second shortest braking distance among the all-season tyres, at 42.8 metres from 100 km/h. It also achieved the lowest external pass-by noise in the test, measured at 69.6 dB(A) at 80 km/h.

In Auto Bild Allrad’s test – focused on suitability for SUVs – the ultra-high-performance Vredestein Quatrac Pro 2 competed against 11 other products in size 225/55 R 18, all fitted to a MINI Countryman. The Quatrac Pro 2 finished joint second overall, recording the shortest wet braking distance by stopping in just 51.8 metres from 100 km/h. It also delivered strong results across the remaining wet disciplines, including cornering aquaplaning, wet circle testing and straight-line aquaplaning.

The Quatrac Pro 2 demonstrated strong snow capability, sharing second place in the slalom test with lateral acceleration of 4.70 m/s². It also recorded the joint third shortest snow braking distance, stopping in 25.9 metres from 50 km/h.

On dry roads, the Quatrac Pro 2 ranked fourth in the braking test, stopping in 39.4 metres from 100 km/h. It achieved the lowest external pass-by noise at 80 km/h, measured at 68.2 dB, and was highly placed for dry handling with an average speed of 113.1 km/h.

Launched earlier this year, the Vredestein Quatrac Pro 2 is available in an extensive range of fitments covering 17- to 24-inch rims. The range includes section widths of up to 355mm, speed ratings of up to 300 km/h and high-load options suitable for a range of high-performance vehicles. The tyre is engineered to be a breakthrough, ‘do-everything’ performance-focused product. This is thanks to its unique tread design with both longitudinal and directional grooves, allowing it to achieve an ‘A’ rating for wet grip.

Quatrac unbeatable in the wet
The Vredestein Quatrac once again demonstrated its all-round capabilities in Auto Motor und Sport’s comparison of nine all-season tyres. Tested in size 195/55 R 16 on a Hyundai i20, the tyres were assessed on wet, dry and snow-covered roads, alongside rolling resistance and external noise.

The Quatrac stopped in just 30.4 metres from 80 km/h on wet roads and achieved the second fastest wet handling speed, averaging 88.5 km/h. It also ranked third in the wet circle test, with lateral acceleration of 7.71 m/s².

On dry roads, the Quatrac achieved the second fastest handling speed, averaging 115.9 km/h. The testers highlighted its agile steering and stability during rapid avoidance manoeuvres.

The Quatrac also demonstrated balanced, controlled handling on snow, recording an average speed of 88 km/h in the snow handling test. The assessment highlighted the tyre’s versatility across the test disciplines, alongside its competitive pricing.
