Leading German car magazine Auto Zeitung names Vredestein Quatrac ‘Best All-Season Tyre’
Auto Zeitung, one of Germany’s leading motoring magazines, has named the Vredestein Quatrac as its joint ‘Best All-Season Tyre’ for 2021. The tyre, which also won the publication’s ‘Price-Performance Recommendation’, faced tough competition from eight other products in the popular all-season category.
The magazine conducted a comprehensive review of 205/55/R16 dimension tyres fitted to a Mk.7 Volkswagen Golf, evaluating their handling and braking performance across a variety of demanding wet and dry tests in different temperatures. The tests also assessed the comfort levels of the tyres on different surfaces, and the extent to which they generate noise, vibration and harshness.
The Auto Zeitung team reviewed the latest, sixth generation Vredestein Quatrac tyre, which has been developed for the ‘mid-segment’ market that includes family cars. In its test review Auto Zeitung stated the Quatrac “is in a class of its own” on wet asphalt in a wide range of temperatures, and highlighted the tyre’s high levels of grip even when driven at the limit. The publication added “the rolling resistance is low,” and on top of that it is “safe on snow and very good value.”
The all-season tyre line-up from premium Dutch brand Vredestein, which is produced by Apollo Tyres exclusively in Europe, offers a carefully optimised balance of performance in dry, wet and icy conditions, and reduces environmental impact by having a low rolling resistance and a high wear life.
Vredestein tyres have been at the forefront of the all-season tyre market since its inception in the early 1990s, benefitting from the company’s knowledge of winter and summer tyres to deliver premium performance capabilities whatever the conditions. With sizes ranging from 13 to 22 inches, the Vredestein brand now offers one of the most comprehensive and diverse portfolios of all-season tyres available.
The Quatrac has a strong track record of winning such awards. Last year the Quatrac was declared joint winner by Auto Bild Allrad in Germany in its prestigious annual tyre test, receiving the highest or second-highest mark in each of the fourteen test categories. In 2020 it also came second in a major test by Auto Bild of 32 all-season tyres. In 2019, the Vredestein brand was named ‘All-Season Manufacturer of the Year’ by Auto Bild, recognised by testers for its “exemplary all-season tyre with impressive qualities on ice and snow,” as well as its “dynamic driving characteristics” in wet and dry conditions.
Yves Pouliquen, Sales & Marketing Director at Apollo Tyres Europe, said: “We take such pride in our all-season range – it’s at the heart of the Vredestein brand. The Quatrac in particular has pioneered innovation and growth in the all-season segment and we continue to invest in research and development to ensure the tyre remains a performance leader. To receive an award from Auto Zeitung shows that our hard work has paid off.”
Alongside the Quatrac, the Vredestein portfolio of all-season tyres includes the Quatrac Pro, Quatrac 5, and Comtrac 2 All-Season+ for light commercial vehicles.
