Volkswagen chooses Vredestein winter tyre as original equipment for Tiguan SUV

The Volkswagen Group has selected the Vredestein Wintrac Pro high-performance winter tyre as original equipment (OE) for its Tiguan SUV in Europe.

Apollo Tyres Ltd will supply the award-winning Vredestein Wintrac Pro in size 215/65 R17 99H specification. The tyres will be fitted to Tiguan models at the Group’s production facility in Wolfsburg, Germany.

To further support Volkswagen customers throughout the ownership cycle, Wintrac Pro tyres will be available on the replacement market.

The Wintrac Pro is a dedicated performance-focused winter tyre that offers impressive levels of grip and control, even in the most challenging conditions. Certified with the ‘Three Peak Mountain Snowflake’ symbol, the Wintrac Pro complies with EU winter tyre regulations (ECE R117) and is optimised for snow conditions, along with an EU tyre label rating of ‘A’ for wet grip.

Manufactured at Apollo Tyres’ Gyöngyöshalász plant in Hungary, the Wintrac Pro features a cutting-edge, patented compound enriched with high silica and resin content, providing exceptional traction on wet, snowy and icy surfaces. Its tread design features sharply angled centre grooves and shoulder sipes, delivering reliable cornering performance in challenging conditions.

The tyre is engineered to distribute pressure evenly to optimise grip on snow, while horizontal sipes improve both braking and acceleration response – critical elements in meeting Volkswagen’s rigorous safety and performance requirements.

In addition to supporting its winter-ready capabilities, the Wintrac Pro enhances the Tiguan’s sporty driving characteristics. With a ‘H’ speed rating, the tyre is certified for up to 210 km/h (130 mph), offering drivers the confidence of superior all-weather handling, shorter braking distances and high-speed stability. Rated ‘C’ for rolling resistance and ‘B’ for road noise, the Wintrac Pro also optimises vehicle range while providing a quieter, more comfortable driving experience.

This is the latest in a series of OE supply agreements that Apollo Tyres has secured with major car manufacturers, strengthening the Netherlands-based tyre brand’s position within the European OE segment.
